Meet the team

Kait Smith

As a Client Services Representative, I strive to deliver the best possible client experience. This means I’m always available to answer any questions you may have, but I’m also willing to send over a great recipe for dinner or help you fill out your child’s college documents for the first time. I am grateful that my position on the team allows me to support others in various facets of the business including client relations, technology integration, and event planning. My stage in life also offers me a unique perspective and creative ideas that I am able to share with the team. Here at Guardian, I’ve found a group of individuals who care as much about others as I do. I have loved having the opportunity to build relationships with our clients and look forward to strengthening them in the future.

I was born and raised in rural Colorado, growing up in the town of Fowler. Coming from a small town, I was blessed with a large family and an even larger support system. I decided to continue my education at Colorado Mesa University, studying International Business, and will be graduating in May of 2022. It was during my time spent in Grand Junction that I first ventured into financial services, working at a local bank. Working in finance has offered me the perfect opportunity to combine my business mindset with my passion for people.

My significant other, Zac, and I moved to Denver in early 2021. For him, this was returning home and for me, it’s been a completely new experience. I love adventure and have been more than happy to explore my new city. I love a good book, so feel free to send any recommendations my way. During most of my free time, you can find me playing volleyball, spending time in the mountains, or traveling to see my family.

Getting to know Kait

Favorite food

I love a good home-cooked meal. This could be anything from fried chicken and okra to cannelloni to bierocks, they are all specialties belonging to my two grandmothers. Nothing can beat the taste of home, and these foods always mean I’m spending time with some of my favorite people as well.

Hidden Talent

I can identify over 20 varieties of cheese! I was a member of the FFA growing up and participated in multiple career development events, one of them being dairy products judging. While it may not be the most useful skill, I can make a mean charcuterie board.

Favorite book

“The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein. Told through the eyes of the family dog, it seamlessly combines racing, the nuances of being a dog, and multiple stories. This book is heartbreaking in the best way and shows what true perseverance is. It also contains my favorite quote, “To live every day as if it had been stolen from death, that is how I would like to live. To feel the joy of life.”

What is your favorite tradition

If you know me you know I can be a very competitive person, and I come by it naturally. Whenever my family gets together, we love to play cards, whether it be Uno or a round of Sevens. It has always been a time for us to get to laugh together, get loud, and put down the technology.
